How does the HotShot ABo compare to the HotShot DM1?

They are very similar, only that the DMI employs a momentary switch that requires you to hold the footswitch down to make it switch.

Can I switch a phantom powered condenser microphone with the ABo?

This depends on the powering of the mic and grounding as the charging of the capacitive plates in the mic could cause a loud pop in the sound system. To be safe, always test at low volumes before you use the ABo this way. When switching microphones, we recommend using a dynamic mic to avoid this problem.

Can I switch unbalanced signals with the ABo?

Yes. All you have to do is use the proper adaptor cables. However the BigShot ABY may be a better choice as it is equipped with ¼” connectors for this purpose.

Can I use hi-impedance stereo sources like a CD player with the ABo?

Yes, but keep in mind that the ABo is mono. This means that you will need a Y-jack to sum the output from your CD player or iPod to mono before switching.

Can I set the ABo so that both outputs can be on at the same time?

No. The ABo is designed as an A or B selector to toggle between two outputs – not a summing device.

Why are there no LEDs on the ABo?

The HotShot ABo is a passive device. This means that it does not require any power whatsoever to make it work. W can do away with costly batteries, space hungry power supplies and phantom power which can introduce noise. The downside is that we do not have any power to light up LEDs.

Can I use the ABo to switch the output of an amplifier to two speakers?

No. High power output signals like speakers require heavy duty contacts and traces. Using the HotShot ABo for this purpose could cause problems.
